Spanish Lessons!!!

Dear members of the Mexican Society,

We cordially invite you to join to the Spanish Lessons that will be starting next Tuesday 18th October, 2011. There are two levels available BASIC and ADVANCED. The details about the course are as follows:

BASIC level
Every Tuesday starting on Tuesday 18th October 2011, 5.30pm
ROOM 3 Leeds University Union (LUU)

ADVANCED level
Every Thursday starting on Thursday 20th October 2011,6.30pm
ROOM 1 Leeds University Union (LUU)

The total cost is £45.00, for 10 classes of 1.5hour each one, the payment deadline will be during the first class.

Please note that the places available are limited in order to create a more personalized teaching.

Film projection rescheduled

Hi everybody! We hope you are fine. Due to the power cut two weeks ago at the Union (LUU), the film projection had to be rescheduled. Now will be next Friday 14th, October 2011 at 6pm in the Room 1, Leeds University Union. We hope to see you there.

Mexican Society Committee 2011-2012

Leeds students Mexican Society is organising a Mexican diner party at Escobar to celebrate the independence of Mexico.

Feeling melancholic about home?, or want to give your first try at Mexican cuisine?
...
Escobar is preparing a special Menu at a special price for us.
Meal and a pint of San Miguel £ 9.50 per person.

Note: pint can be exchanged for fuzzy drink of choice.

Choose from:

1) Mexican Mole - Typical Mexican chicken stew in a curry style sauce made with chocolate and spices.

2) Enchiladas (chicken, beef or veggie) - Corn tortilla with the filling of your choice topped with melted cheese.

3) Tacos al pastor - four corn tortilla tacos filled with tender marinated pork.

4) Gringas - Similar to tacos al pastor, but with added melted cheese on top (really good!!)

After dinner ... two floors of music, and special price on drinks and cocktails will be available!!!

We hope to see you all there, and get a taste of Mexico!

Deadline to confirm assistance is 12 September 2011.
Deadline to pay for diner and drink is 14 September 2011.

Film Screening: "Like Water for Chocolate"

Dear members of the Mexican Society, Leeds, UK

You are cordially invited to join us in the first official event of the new committee (2011-2012); the film screening of "Like water for Chocolate".

This a Mexican film based on the popular novel published on 1989 (by Laura Esquivel, mexican novelist), with the same title. The plot of the novel takes place during the mexican revolution period, so part of the manners of that period can be appreciated.

WHEN: Wednesday 7th September, 2011.
TIME: 18:00-20:30
